Secularism Is Leading America Down a Slippery Slope

Proverbs 22:3 says, “The shrewd sees evil and hides himself, but the gullible pass on and pay the penalty” (as quoted in Bruce K. Waltke’s The Book of Proverbs Chapters 15-31).

The Hebrew word for “shrewd” is singular, but “gullible” is plural, suggesting that the gullible are more numerous than the shrewd. The verse teaches that the shrewd can discern that the effect of “evil” is misery—and so the shrewd hide.

Historians label the 20th century the “American Century,” because the USA largely dominated the world in the arena of politics, economics and culture. But now, the person with moral discernment recognizes that American, having embraced secularism, will suffer agony. Honey is sweet, but the bee stings.

Secularists have wreaked havoc on America by upending the Constitution and fraudulently inserting a false religion. As a result, the Catholic Church is forced to close adoption agencies, public schools are strong-armed to affirm homosexuality, and military chaplains are censored from praying in the name of Jesus.

David Kupelian in Snapping of the American Mind writes:

“Many thought same-sex marriage would be the crowning achievement of the LGBT movement and that the juggernaut would finally wind down. But then, suddenly the focus shifted to ‘transgender rights,’ … ‘America’s next civil rights frontier,’ and Vice President Joe Biden likewise proclaiming transgender discrimination ‘the civil rights issue of our time.’ And then—brace yourself—there were reports of 3-year-old children being required to sign a contract promising they will not use ‘transphobic language’ in nursery school!”

The Supreme Court of the United States forces on America a never-ending, ever-expanding revolutionary movement that leads to moral anarchy. Empowered secularism demands the increasing criminalization of its greatest enemy: people who hold a Christian worldview.

Abraham Lincoln prophetically spoke of the present picture of America: “The philosophy of the schoolroom in one generation is the philosophy of government in the next.” The 1960s’ flower children chickens have come home to roost.

President Obama, a social anarchist with access to all U.S. intelligence and secrets, was a committed Marxist during college, advocating the overthrow of American capitalism. “His [Obama’s] father was a Marxist. His mentor as a young teenager, Frank Marshall Davis, was a card-carrying member of the Communist Party USA (card no. 47544).”*

America’s Christian heritage and Bible-based culture was under assault from secularism long before Barack Obama’s presidency. President Obama is merely a byproduct of an America in the grasp of secularism.

A decade ago, Pat Buchanan wrote these words in his book Day of Reckoning:

“The real revolution of the last half century began in the 1960s and drove wedges through society that endure today. This revolution involved the repudiation of America’s past as racist, sexist, imperialist and genocidal in its treatment of women, Indians, Africans and all peoples of color.

“This revolution involved the rejection and overthrow of traditional Christian morality and Christianity itself as bigoted and repressive, and the conversion of the young to a sensuality, self-indulgence and promiscuity condemned by all Christian faiths.

“This revolution involved the overturning of all laws rooted in Christian doctrine regarding divorce, homosexuality, abortion and the purge of all Christian symbols, books, and practices from public schools. This revolution was about de-Christianizing and secularizing America.”

Secularism has radically transformed every major institution in society: government, the bureaucracy, the courts, public education, universities, news and entertainment media, and Hollywood. Once the secularists own the culture, it’s just a matter of time before the judicial, legislative and executive branches fall into their lap like a ripe piece of fruit.

The Antidote

There is only one corrective to the spiritual collapse of America: restoring the Word of God in the pulpits, the pews, public education and the public square. Unless America returns to her spiritual roots, she will go the way of the Greek Empire of Alexander the Great, the Roman Empire, the Spanish Empire, the First French Empire of Napoleon and the British Empire.

Why?

Because “God will never have it forgotten that the cross is the basis of all blessing.”**

America has abandoned the Founders’ mission:

“We do hereby Dedicate this Land, and ourselves, to reach the People within these shores with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to raise up Godly generations after us, and with these generations take the Kingdom of God to all the earth.”***

It’s easily defended that America was established by those on a spiritual mission, they pronounced it over and over and over, “Having undertaken, for the Glory of God, and advancements of the Christian faith.”****

Secularism, though religious, has no anchor. If America is to be delivered, we must bring the men and women of Issachar to the public square, on a mission to restore the Founder’s mission.

We simply need a Gideon or Rahab to stand. {eoa}
