Spiritual Leaders Call for Prayer, Repentance This Sunday
Make this Sunday, Jan. 20, a day of repentance as well as a day to pray.
Thousands have signed up for this Sunday’s “day to pray”—encouraged by Gov. Mike Huckabee and prayer intercessor Cindy Jacobs (ADayToPray.com). The purpose of the spiritual event is to bring us together to ask God for forgiveness and to heal our land, to grant our leaders wisdom from local school houses to the White House.
Another Christian ministry, the national day of repentance, dayofrepentance.org, is urging believers to take time that day not just for prayer, but specifically to focus on repentance.
It’s repentance from His believers that triggers God’s heart to heal nations. Second Chronicles 7:14 says: “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
The phrase “wicked ways” is misunderstood, as is the concept of repentance. In Hebrew the phrase “wicked ways” may be translated as “inadequacies.” We all have inadequacies; we all fall short of the glory of God. But what a privilege He gives us: if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Repentance thus is a positive, healthy process that the Lord wants to share with us [Revelation 3:19-20] to help us leave our old ways and turn towards His Purity as His Bride. Intimacy, joy with Him follows repentance!
There’s a huge moral decline in our nation. One out of five of our youth don’t believe in God. Leaders focus on gun control to protect children when thousands of unborn babies are killed every day.
God has been speaking to us to get away from the “sand” of man’s futile plans and come back to Him, the Rock. Matthew 7:24-29. Hurricane “Sandy” was followed by the horrible killings in “Sandy” Hook. Instead of repenting, our leaders have completely missed His signs! The well-established American tradition to trigger God’s Providence—a national day of prayer, fasting and repentance—appears to be unknown to our leaders.
Believers from Australia, Cameroon, England, France, Israel, Nigeria, Pakistan and the Philippines will be praying with us on Jan. 20 for repentance, for God’s blessings for America. Join us on Facebook at TheNationalDayOfRepentance and at dayofrepentance.org.
