Ben Carson Considering 2016 Presidential Run
Dr. Ben Carson is considering running for president in 2016. The retired neurosurgeon recently told radio host Hugh Hewitt there’s “a reasonably good chance” he’ll pursue the GOP nomination.
“I’m waiting obviously for a few more months. I want to make sure that it’s clearly something my fellow Americans want me to do,” he said.
“And I’m also waiting to see what the results are in November because if the people indicate that they truly do want a nation that is for and by the people, then I, and along with I hope many other people, be willing to give it everything we possibly have,” he added.
Last year, he created a stir after a speech he gave at the National Prayer Breakfast criticized the president’s policies.
“Instead of sending all this money to some bureaucracy, let’s put it in their HSAs. Now they have some control over their own health care. And very quickly they’re going to learn how to be responsible,” Carson proposed during the 2013 address.
Since that time, the former neurosurgeon has garnered a loyal following among conservative voters.
Carson said he will have a decision by May 2015.
