African-American Faith Leaders: We’re Ready to Help President-Elect Trump Make America Great Again
Many in the liberal mainstream media were shocked to discover that President-Elect Donald Trump had earned the support of many African-American voters en route to his electoral victory on Tuesday night.
Now, two of the architects of that surprise—Day Gardner and the Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson—have offered their congratulations to the new president-elect and his running mate, vice president-elect Gov. Mike Pence. They also sent out messages calling on their supporters to get behind the new administration to help “make America great again.”
Gardner, president of the National Black Pro-Life Union—one of the first pro-life groups to back the Republican—issued the following statement Thursday morning:
Congratulations to President-elect Donald J. Trump on an amazing and even miraculous victory.
I am proud to say that the National Black Pro-Life Union was the very first pro-life organization to endorse Donald Trump for president in the early spring of 2016.
From that moment on, we worked diligently, yet stealthily throughout the campaign reaching out to other pro-life organizations, dozens of evangelicals and their churches across America to paint the extreme differences between the two nominees.
We understood the need for a stealth underground wing of the movement in order to avoid liberal violence, retaliation and attacks of racism.
These are many of the people the main stream media, pundits and experts never saw coming. We are eternally grateful for their courage and resolve.
It was obvious when nominee Trump spoke at rallies across the country that for him it was never a Republican, Democrat, black, white, Hispanic thing but instead always an America thing.
To that end the National Black Pro-Life Union is proud of our new president and will continue to do whatever we can to help Donald J. Trump and vice president Mike Pence make America great again.
Peterson, founder and president of BOND—a pro-family group dedicated to “rebuilding the family by rebuilding the man”—issued his own statement of support to the Trump-Pence administration:
Congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump on an amazing campaign and a tremendous victory. Donald Trump and his supporters shocked the world last night, defying the experts who said he didn’t have a chance to win.
Americans of all races understood what was at stake and they did what was necessary. As a result, we have a President-elect who will treat all Americans fairly, rollback the awful policies of the last eight years, and chart a bold course to make America great again!
This election was clearly a repudiation of Barack Obama’s socialist policies and Hillary Clinton’s plan to continue and expand those policies.
Donald Trump’s acceptance speech was gracious and conciliatory. He showed that he is a unifying figure. I have supported Trump since he first announced his candidacy, and I am overjoyed by the results of this election.
Congratulations to Vice President-elect Mike Pence for his role and for sharing in Trump’s vision to make this nation great again. Congratulations to Republicans for maintaining the majority in Congress. Congratulations to the voters who had the wisdom and courage to reject the cynicism and the lies spewed by Trump’s critics and their allies in the liberal press. Thank you, white people, for finally standing up and not being intimidated by false accusations of ‘racism.’
America is finally going to have a president and first family who are worthy of occupying the White House. Let’s all get behind President-elect Trump and help him deliver on his promise to make America great again!
