5 Celebrities Who Have Admitted to a Porn Problem

Pornography affects men (and women) from the home to Hollywood. In fact, many of our nation’s top celebrities have admitted the damaging impact of pornography in their lives.

A look at these five Hollywood actors and celebrities who have admitted to problems with pornography offers insight and hope for those who face a similar battle in their own lives.

NFL Star & Actor Terry Crews

Former NFL star and actor Terry Crews (known to many for his humorous Old Spice commercials) publicly confessed his decades-long porn addiction on Facebook in 2016. He notes:

“For years, years, years, my dirty little secret was that I was addicted to pornography… It really, really messed up my life in a lot of ways.”

In Crews’ case, his acknowledgement of the problem led him to seek rehab and work toward recovery. His wife supported his recovery with the couple growing stronger. Crews now speaks out to help other men confront and conquer the battle against pornography.

Reality TV Star Josh Duggar

One of the biggest headlines of 2015 included the release of leaked accounts from the affair-promoting website AshleyMadison.com. 19 Kids and Counting star Josh Duggar was discovered with two accounts on the site, leading to an eventual confession of a secret addiction to pornography.

In Duggar’s case, the consequences were both personal and professional. In addition to destroying his family, the news ended his job at the Family Research Council.

Golf Superstar Tiger Woods

In 2010 golf superstar Tiger Woods spent time at a sexual addiction treatment center, admitting both addiction to pornography and other sexual problems, according to Time magazine. In his case, pornography served as part of a larger sexual addiction that included infidelity to his wife.

The public release of the information led to a humiliating time for Woods, in addition to divorce. Though he later returned to the golf course, his life and family suffered serious consequences.

British Comedian Russell Brand

Brand’s biography My Booky Wook: A Memoir of Sex, Drugs and Stand-Up reveals his confession of 30 days in a sexual addiction treatment program due to addiction to pornography and other sexual problems.

Brand’s transformation claims he has made a complete break from pornography and sexual relationships, living completely celibate. He now pursues other passions such as rock climbing.

Gospel Music Star Kirk Franklin

Kirk Franklin has won 12 Grammy Awards and his name is synonymous with American Gospel music. However, his battle with pornography almost cost him everything. He described the power of pornography as a “drug” that would call to him in the night.

He has openly spoken about the topic on CBN and even with Oprah to encourage other men to get help in their own lives. His honest words to CBN’s Scott Ross about his first exposure to porn is telling:

“There’s always the boy who has the big brother who has the magazine under his bed. That’s how it starts. So the first time I ever saw one, I was around 8 or 9. I saw my first magazine, and from there I was addicted.”

You Are Not Alone

Yes, many of today’s celebrities—even Christians—have struggled with pornography. You are not alone.

If you’ve tried to stop viewing pornography on your own and continue to struggle, get help. You don’t have to fight this battle alone.

“Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service of worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Rom. 12:1-2).
