Singer, Songwriter Jordan Smith Says Believers Shouldn’t Miss This

It can seem so easy to be swept away by the ebb and flow of ever-changing pandemic and political climates, but this singer and songwriter remembers one thing is sure: God doesn’t change. Jordan Smith, the highest-selling artist to arise from The Voice (Season 9), recently signed with Provident Label Group/Sony, releasing his first Christian single, “Great You Are.”

The answer to allowing yourself to be sucked into the undertow of such wavering circumstances? According to Smith, it’s continuing to look to God through difficult times. He wants his new music to immerse listeners in the Holy Spirit in such a way that they see His steadfastness—despite our own trials and tribulations, God remains the same.

“He’s always faithful, He’s constant, He’s good, and He loves us unconditionally,” Smith says. “It’s important to stop and remind ourselves of just how good He is and how faithful He is in our lives. Whenever we lay down all of those heartbreaks, all of those trials, all of those, even blessings, down to Him, it’s just refreshing. It brings new life to our spirit, and I hope that’s what the song can do for people.”

Co-written with Jeff Sojka and Matt Armstrong, “The song itself just says, ‘Everything I am I lay it down here at your feet, and I’m returning to you,'” Smith says.

Since Smith’s spotlight on The Voice, he’s written Christmas music, pop music and collaborated with renowned artists and producers, according to Christian Headlines. Now, he says he is giving his gift back to God.

“It’s really special for me to be able to have the moment to return my gift to the Lord and to point the glory back to Him. We are all just that; we’re just reflections of God’s love to the world.”
